Shreya in Kadhir

Friday 26 December 2008 @ 12:07 pm

Actor Dhanush is currently working on a remake of the Telugu-hit Arya, and is paired with Shreya in the movie.

The film is directed by Mithran Jawahar, who had earlier directed the 2008 hit Yaaradi Nee Mohini.

The buzz is that the movie, which is being shot in Visakapatnam, has been titled as Kadhir. Shreya, who was originally approached for the movie, had not allotted dates for it, but later joined the unit.

It seems that the actress who is going through a lean patch in Bollywood and Hollywood, readily gave out dates for the movie. The movie has music by Devi Sri Prasad.

‘Kanthasamy’ channel rights

Tuesday 16 December 2008 @ 11:19 am

Susi Ganesan is directing ‘Kanthasamy’ produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu. Vikram has given extra call sheet for this film and that speaks for its quality. Vikram comes in different appearances, especially the female role in which it is difficult to even recognize him.

One expected it to be released for Deepavali, then for Pongal. Why this delay, we asked Susi Ganesan.

“There is no hurry to do the shooting or a hurry to release it post haste. The film should be of good quality. That’s reason for the delay. Only the producer, Vikram and I know the reason for the delay in release. Vikram has worked very hard for this film. When I see some frames, even I am stunned.

Vikram’s earlier film went for Kerala rights of 15 crores, whereas ‘Kanthasamy’ has gone for 3 crores. The channel rights for Vikram’s earlier film was a record for 3 crores, but this film has gone for 4 crores. This proof of how well the film is shaping up. I will be the Number One director of 2009. This may sound arrogant, but I’ve full confidence in the film.”

Whether to believe Susi Ganesan or not, we will know when the film gets released. The earlier film of Vikram’s that he refers to is ‘Anniyan.’

Tuesday 2 December 2008 @ 8:55 am

Vikram’s super hero film Kanthasamy, produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu and directed by Susi Ganesan will now release only in the summer of 2009 (April to June).

In an interview, Susi Ganesan has said: “Kanthasamy is a superman like story with a logical twist. Fantasy and realism are mixed in the story to make it a commercial entertainer.”

The shoot of the film has been going on for a year. Susi Ganesan says the delay was due to the time taken for the shoot of the film and now its post production work as a lot of special effects are involved.

Added Susi Ganesan: ” It is definitely going to be 2009’s biggest movie. The post production work is going on in full swing. All that remains is a flashback scene and a song that will be shot in Italy.”

The audio of the film which has music by Devi Sri Prasad, is being launched in January. Kanthasamy is sure going to be Kollywood’s next big thing.

Shreya’s Hollywood dreams go bust

Friday 7 November 2008 @ 5:59 am

The Other End Of the Line was the film which Shreya was depending a lot, her debut film in Hollywood. The film produced by Ashok Amritraj which released in US last Friday has bombed miserably at the box-office and the reviews too has been scathing.

The film made on a shoe-string budget of $ 2.5 million (Rs 12.5 crore), could gross only $ 57, 000 (approximately Rs 28 lakhs) from 91 screens in its opening weekend.

A leading US distributor of Tamil films says: “Shreya’s Rajnikanth film Sivaji collected almost four times this amount in its opening weekend from lesser number of screens!” The failure of the film has Shreya now looking more eagerly at Kollywood.

She has more or less taken a decision to stick to Tamil cinema and compete with arch rival Nayantara! A few days back she has signed Vishal’s Thoranam, to be directed by debutant Ayappan. She will be shooting for the film by the end of the month.

Shreya to pair up with Vishal

Wednesday 5 November 2008 @ 9:53 am

Followed by terrific flop of Satyam, Vishal seems to have changed his plans of picking up projects. Earlier, prior to release of the film, he had idea about joining hands with Director Prithvi. The film was supposed to feature him in dual roles whereas it has been shelved for a while. At the moment, he has roped in Director Boopathy Pandian’s assistant Ayappan for the film titled ‘Thoranam’. Actress Shreya who has been drenched in despaired situations has been roped in for playing female lead. It is notable that earlier she was offered to perform lead in Satyam and due to call sheet problems; she wasn’t able to pick it up.

Meanwhile, Shreya is eagerly waiting for the release of couple of her biggies: Kandasamy and Hollywood film ‘The Other End of Line’. She is the only actress who is so sad since none of her films are clicking at box office in Bollywood, Tollywood or Kollywood.
